(Seattle, WA) Over the weekend of August 29-30, Western Washington was struck by a record-setting August windstorm. High winds toppled a tree on the Mill Creek site of the KCIS night-time broadcast towers. As a result, one of the three towers fell to the ground, damaged beyond repair. This forces us to broadcast at drastically reduced power during evening hours.
Station engineers have been operating around the clock on the campus tower and will until the tower is replaced in about two weeks. Messages will be played on KCIS giving updates for the situation and reduced signal.
For those unable to receive the reduced night-time signal, KCIS 630 is available through the online streaming at www.kcisradio.com, the free KCIS Mobile App, and HD Radio – 105.3 HD2
KCIS is insured against the bulk of the repair costs – but not all. We suddenly find ourselves faced with unanticipated expenses of several thousand dollars, on top of all our other operational needs. Support from the community could not be more urgent. KCIS asks for prayers from the community through the cleanup, repairs and new tower build.
