Freedom Walk 5K to End Trafficking
Brief description of event: The Genesis Project Seattle is hosting it's annual Freedom Walk 5K to fight trafficking.
Freedom Walk 5K June 8th, 2019 Kick-off 10AM (walk-up registration opens 9:15am) The Corridor: 2819 S. 208th St., Seatac, WA 98198
Participants will join The Genesis Project and local survivors of trafficking, as we walk International Blvd., and area of King County where many women and young girls are exploited every day. The route travels from our home-base location, to SeaTac Airport and back. The purpose of the events is to raise awareness in the local community about trafficking and exploitation happening right here in our own neighborhoods. All proceeds from the 5K will go to The Genesis Project Seattle, a non-profit drop in/day center and emergency shelter for survivors of sex trafficking.
The Genesis Project mission is to offer hope for a new life to survivors of commercial sexual exploitation.
Tickets are on-sale now at: https://www.genesisnow.org/take-action/events Walk-up registrations are also welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged. Participants will receive a Genesis Project swag-bag (drawstring backpack) and Genesis Project T-shirt to keep, and wear during the walk.
Registration is $30 per person (ages 12 and under are FREE)
The event is family and leashed pet friendly. Activities at the walk include, Face painting, photo opps, BBQ, and the chance to talk with local and state elected officials about the issue of trafficking in Washington State.
