King County Library System Literary Lions Gala 201

Brief description of event: King County Library System (KCLS) Foundation will hold its 26th annual Literary Lions Gala on Saturday March 16, 2019, to raise money to support literacy and learning programs at the library system's 49 libraries. This enduringly popular event will feature 19 outstanding authors, fabulous food and wine, and opportunities to purchase books and tickets to several exclusive Author Salons. Guests who purchase the popular Salons will have the future opportunity to mingle with guest authors, at a later date, in an intimate setting. Keynote speaker is Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jennifer Egan, acclaimed for her five novels and short story collection. Her latest novel, Manhattan Beach, was published last fall and is a New York Times bestseller and 2018 Andrew Carnegie Medal of Excellence in Fiction award winner. Her novel, A Visit from the Goon Squad, won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Los Angeles Times book prize. Her novel The Invisible Circus was developed into a feature film starring Cameron Diaz and the novel Look at Me was a finalist for the National Book Award in fiction. Nancy Pearl, renowned book expert and literary speaker, will once again emcee the event. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, 900 Bellevue Way NE.
