Will you join us in an outrageous goal for Giving Tuesday on November 30th? Will you—together with the rest of our listeners—give 1000 Bibles in 1 Day to people living in remote villages in Africa? Each Bible costs only $5, but to someone who is starving for the Word of God, it’s priceless.
I know Bibles are important, but the word starving make me wonder, “Do these people need food more?”
Good question! Yes, they do need food. Our sister ministry, World Concern, gives emergency food and trains communities in farming and fishing to bring sustainable solutions for more food and better nutrition. Food and water are the first priority in a village. We know that …
“A mother cannot hear the Gospel when her children are crying from hunger,” Jacinta Tegman, CEO of CRISTA Ministries.
Great! Now that I know the people have the food they need, tell me more about Bibles …
Once essential physical needs are met, people can move beyond fighting to survive and look toward the future. That’s when they begin to ask, “Why are you here? Why are you helping us?”
When this happens, we know they are starting to be hungry for food that will satisfy their souls!
Jesus said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” – Matthew 4:4
The first message we want people to hear is that God loves them! When they believe that, it changes everything. The Gospel sets them free from fear and superstition. They start to have hope for a better life. They begin to feel peace and joy. And their relationships improve.
When this happens, they want to know more … and when you give Bibles through World Concern, they experience the transformation that can only come through Jesus Christ and the power of His Word.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
This happened recently in a village in Kenya. The people started listening to the Bible together in small groups and, so far, 112 of them have come to Christ. They used to worship idols and constantly had to pay magicians to keep their families and animals safe. This increased their poverty and kept them enslaved. But when they turned to Jesus and began worshipping Him, they were set free from fear, and they didn’t have to live that way anymore.
Wow! This is really exciting!
We agree! When people read the Bible, it changes the way they think and act. They want to share their new life with others. Entire communities are transformed, and they begin to live the abundant life that God wants for them.
Don’t miss out on bringing this priceless gift to someone (for only $5!). 1000 Bibles in 1 Day is possible with your help!
