In early October, singer Natalie Grant got the news that should would need an unexpected surgery on her thyroid due to cancer concerns. The news was nothing less than terrifying. While thyroid cancer is curable, there were fears that the surgery would effect her voice due to the thyroid’s close proximity to her vocal cords. Obviously, Natalie’s entire career hinged on this fact but the entire time her faith remained strong.
After the successful surgery, Natalie has been recovering quicker than expected. This week she shared some amazing news with fans:
“You guys. Excuse the rough video. Here’s just a short clip. We didn’t even know Kristi Brazell was filming! Today is 4 weeks post surgery. I’ve been doing vocal therapy with Diane Sheets for about 10 days. My vocal tone and quality are almost what it used to be. What’s not there yet is the stamina. I still tire quickly. But it will come. Prayers for vocal stamina appreciated.
DID I MENTION IT’S ONLY BEEN 4 WEEKS?!?! We were told the power or ability to truly sing “out” probably wouldn’t come for 6-7 months. During our Christmas tour meeting today, Danny Gokey and I decided to try and run The Prayer – just to see. As you can see, we were all having a tiny hallelujah breakdown at the end. God is so KIND. It’s not 100%. But I’m on my way, thank you Jesus.”
Isn’t that incredible! Listen to her rehearsal below. Natalie sounds just as beautiful as before. She’s back in business, praise God!
