Read: Psalm 125, Malachi 3:16-4:6, Mark 9:9-13
Reflect: This passage from Malachi is truly great. Not very often in Washington do we get sunny days in the Fall/Winter time, but when we do it’s amazing. It doesn’t matter what the temperature is, those sunbeams make us feel like we’re on a tropical island. As Christians we are to have that same joy and excitement when the Son of Righteousness shines! The rays that come from the Son bring healing, joy, and wholeness.
When the Son of Righteousness shines, we need no other light or warmth. Imagine trying to light a candle on a sunny day to help out the sun! That makes as much sense as trying to “improve” the work of Jesus for us with our own righteousness.
This is the good news of Jesus Christ. He’s done it all!
It started with that starry night on Christmas as Jesus came to us-but another part of the good news is that He’s coming again. It’s not that the world is ending and destruction awaits but that the savior we have lived for our entire lives is coming back!! And once that day comes we will rejoice!! So as we get together for our weekend services we have much to celebrate.
During this Advent Season let us be that faithful remnant of Christ followers who know about the first coming of Jesus, and look forward to the next!

Discuss:
Are you apart of that faithful group that spends the Advent Season celebrating Christ’s birth, but also pointing to His return?
How are some ways you can use this season to tell someone about Jesus?
Pray:
God thank you for your faithfulness. When I read the Bible I see generation after generation of people put their faith in you, and some even before Jesus came to earth! Help me to be apart of this faithful group. I thank you for the Bible for it tells me the story of my savior. It tells me the story of this wonderful Christmas Day, and it also tells me of the return of Jesus. I pray for strength for the days ahead as I put my faith in a totally faithful God. I love you. Amen.
