Read: Isaiah 40:1-11
Reflect: If ever our world was in need of comfort, it’s now. Everywhere you look, chaos and despair abounds. How much more does grace abound and the Word of God, also?
We are not left alone and without hope. The Sovereign Lord stands for us, fights with us and speaks tenderly to us.
The message of Christmas reminds us that we can take comfort in the arms of our Savior, even when storms surround us. Our loving Father is not removed from our plight and He gathers us to himself, holding us close. This is what love looks like in all its glorious splendor – the Father’s arms open wide, beckoning us to draw near.

Discuss: Are you in need of comfort this Christmas season? Maybe your heart is heavy with the sorrows of our day. The Father’s arms are extended towards you. What is something you can do to extend His love towards others?
Pray: Father, we humbly ask you to draw us closer this Christmas. Comfort us with your love and cause our own to abound more and more. May we rejoice in your gift of love,
Jesus, as we rest in your faithful arms, knowing you will comfort your people when they cry out to you.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
